Slot machine designers make it easy for players to make a one-payline bet by adding a "Bet One" button to the slot machine console. This button is usually prominently displayed in the center of the console, usually left of the "Spin" button. To the right of the "Spin" button is the "Bet Max" button.

Players are more likely to use either the bet one or bet max button, due to the buttons displayed. A player can touch the "bet one" button and "spin" button in one fluid movement, speeding up the amount of time needed to play through one spin on a slot machine.

The more spins a player can play per hour, the more money is wagered in that hour. Therefore, the Bet One button increases the entertainment value for the slots player. The button also means the casino is likely to be more profitable than if the player had to set their bet amount in a less efficient fashion.

The Bet One button also allows a player to select additional paylines one pay line at a time. So if a player wants to bet three paylines, then the player hits the "Bet One" button three times before hitting Spin.
