Coin SizeThe denomination of the coin being bet on a slot machine. Return to the slot machine terms main page. Slot machines have been built for virtually every coin denomination: penny, nickel, dime, quarter. Coin size also comes in dollar amounts, including one dollar, five dollars, ten dollars and one-hundred dollars. "Coin size" can even range up into the thousands of dollars. The coin size is only one part of a slot machine bet. Other factors in the size of a bet are number of coins played (1 through 5) and the number paylines (1 to 100, though new machines with more paylines are marketed all the time). Generally, it's better to bet 5 coins on a slot machine, because that is likely to qualify players for the highest jackpot percentage and sometimes is required to qualify for the jackpot at all. If a player is not comfortable betting at the 5-coin and maximum payline limit, that player should probably use a smaller coin size. When a player figures out his or her best coin size limit, the player get the most enjoyment out of their slot machine sessions. |
