Slot machines operate using different amount of coins and each machine varies. Most slot machines can be played using only one coin as a wager. Some slot machines require two to three coins to be wagered. In most cases, in order to be eligible for the highest jackpot, a player must bet the maximum number of coins (which is usually three). Generally, the more coins you wager, the higher the payout.

Coin denomination also varies per slot machine. Some slots take nickels, some take quarters, and it goes up from there. If you are playing an online slot machine, you can select the coin denomination that you want to use.
