Sound of RainJackpot coins dropping into the coin bucket. Return to the slot machine terms main page. When coins drop into the hopper after a sizable payout on a slot machine, it sounds like the splattering of rain. The "sound of rain" is music to the ears of a slots player. This means the player has won a jackpot or other large amount of coins. Players will say they hope to hear the sound of rain when they play the slots. These days, the sound of rain is heard less in casinos than it once was, because many modern slot machines do not pay the player directly in coins. Instead, the slot machine prints out a ticket which can be reimbursed for the amount of money printed on the ticket. The jackpot winner takes this ticket to the cashier cage to get paid. | Slot Machines Main Page |
