Spin ButtonButton on electronic slot machines used to set the reels in motion, which determine the outcome of the bet. Return to the slot machine terms main page. On mechanical slot machines, the reels were set in motion by a mechanical lever. This lever is what gave the slot machine the nickname "one-armed bandit". Once slot machines were designed electronically, the spin lever was no needed. Instead, the spin button was placed on slot machines. Because electronic slot machines were heavily influenced by arcade game designs, designers began using buttons on the slot machine console to initiate the bet. This became the spin button. The spin button is usually found between the "Bet One" and "Bet Max" buttons on the slot machine console. This makes it easy make ones bet and spin the reels in one motion. When a player hits the button, the reels spin. When the reels stop spinning, the player learns if he or she has won the spin. | Slot Machines Main Page |
